|A special end of year THANK YOU to all the families for sharing your
talents, time and gifts to help make a successful year for all the students
at Stillwater Montessori School. The students and staff really appreciated
1. START OF SCHOOL. Stillwater Montessori School classes will start
Wednesday, September 1st. (See Attached 2004-2005 School Calendar). The
staff starts Tuesday, August 17th and will attend Teacher and Assistant
Teacher training at Kennebec Montessori School sponsored the Annual Maine
Montessori Assn. On August 19th and 20th.
2. STAFF NEWS: Assistant teachers Abbey Nataluk and Aaron Padgen are both leaving the school. Aaron will be attending the University of Michigan for her Masters in Education starting June 21st. Abbey will be moving to Southern Maine (Cape Elizabeth) where her husband will be a foreman for a landscape company. Also Abbey's baby is due in August! Good luck to you both! The rest of the staff plans to return. We have hired Devin Getchell as an assistant teacher. She did her teaching practicum for EMCC and is transferring to the University of Maine. We are in the process of hiring another assistant teacher. Nora Bellows will continue to offer Suzuki violin lessons and Shawna Stratton-Meier will continue music lessons. She will also do music lessons at the elementary, as well as continue to offer the after-school Children's Chorus program.
3. FUNDRAISING: Our fundraising efforts were very successful. Thank you
all for contributing to our annual fall Yard Sale, Dutch Bulb orders, Box top collection, Hannaford Store coupons, book sales, etc. Special thanks for the Scholarship Auction and Dance, which raised $3300 for the scholarship fund!
4. SUMMER SCHOOL MAINTENANCE: This summer the School is not holding its summer program in order to refurbish the primary playground and fence, side/paint part of the building and replace classroom floor tiles. Other needed repairs will be done too!
