2009 SUMMER PROGRAMS
All Programs have a weekly fee of $175 per week, except “Passport to The World” Camp at UM is $190 for the week. These camps are generally for newly enrolled SMS students, currently enrolled SMS students and SMS alumni students. Others may be accepted on a case by case basis only. A minimum of 6 students are needed to support a program. The day camp hours will be 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
June 22 – 26nd
Discover the Artist w/ Jackie Dimmock
It will be a memorable way to learn about artists, i.e. paint laying down (like Michelangelo) or in the dark (like Van Gogh). We will learn about a new artist each day and have lots of free art choices.
June 29– July 3rd
Cooking Through Literature w/ Jackie Dimmock
Children will learn to use tools to make a fruit bouquet, vegetable flowers, Popsicle sandwiches, decorating tubes for cookies and cupcakes, all matched up with children’s literature.
July 6 – 10th
All Things Mexican w/ Christy Deal
Come celebrate the art, the food and the music of Mexico! It will be a colorful and tasty experience!
July 13 – 17th
Digging on Dinosaurs! w/ Al Duplessis
This will be a fun week-long investigation of all aspects of “Dinosaurs”. Program will include activities, games, books, videos, etc. There will also be a “dinosaur dig” and skeleton reconstruction
July 20-24th Passport to The World (at UM Page Farm) w/ Joanne Alex
We will explore different countries and their cultures every day. This Program will be located at UM Page Farm.
July 27- 31st Medieval Times w/ Christy Deal
Let us take a trip back to medieval times, when legends were new! We will explore books, art and create family crests.
Aug. 3 - 7th Kitchen Chemistry w/ Irene Jackson
We will create concoctions both edible and otherwise. Investigate substances that bounce, ooze, and fizz. Learn about acids and bases, solutions, and reactions with fun activities designed for kids.
