Text Box: The 4th-8th grade class in the Stillwater Montessori School in Old Town went to Smith’s Ceramic Studio in Bangor on Tuesday, November 15th.
They painted ornaments. The students will sell the ornaments at the school’s Thanksgiving feast on Tuesday, November 22 for three dollars each. They painted sixteen ornaments to sell so they can buy turkeys to give to needy families. They are also are collecting dried goods for needy families.
The idea for the ceramics came up because some of the students went to a ceramic studio after school and they said it would be fun to paint ceramics for a fund-raiser.

Text Box: Nash, Conor, Damian, Isaac, Tyler, Max, Ben, Ashley, and Sorel, went to the Maine Energy Education Program on November 4th. It was at the Penobscot Job Corps in Bangor. Our program was about energy sources like nuclear, wind, bio-mass, and solar.
The whole group did an energy debate and then the 4th and 5th graders did experiments with an apple battery, solar panels, and wind turbines.
The 6th through 9th graders did the global energy game. In the global energy game, the students were stranded on an island and they had to tell what energy source they would use.
The Maine Energy Education Program is held every year.
Text Box: The Stillwater Montessori Chess Team is looking for revenge. Last year the team did so well we got second place in the K-8 Novice Section at the Maine State Chess Team Tournament. We only lost by a half point to the South Bristol Middle School. There were nine schools and 56 students.
Doing the best they could do, two of the students went undefeated, Isaac McKillen-Godfried of Bangor, winning top individual in the K-6 section; and Tyler Dama of Orrington, winning top individual in the K-8 section.
Most of the students have been practicing for chess team by playing in chess club, and some of the students have gotten some practice going to individual chess tournaments. Chess team will start soon
Hopefully, The Stillwater Montessori Chess Team will win the Maine Chess Team Tournament but most importantly have a lot of fun and learn something important.
