Common Ground Fair

The Upper Elementary class at the Stillwater Montessori School went to the Common Ground Fair on Friday, September 22, 2006. They went there because they are doing a food and farming unit.
At the fair, they saw sheepdog trials, horse shows and giant vegetables. They also saw all kinds of animals and people playing instruments.
It's very loud at the Common Ground Fair. The students could hear people everywhere talking and shouting. Sometimes there were people with microphones at shows.
Vendors sell wool there. It feels really soft. Fair-goers can touch lots of animals, such as ponies.
Visitors can do a lot at the Common Ground Fair. In the Children's area, they can jump in hay and bang on pans. They can hit this thing with a hammer and it shoots something up and that rings a bell. You can walk through a barn full of chickens and geese in coops. There are rows of stalls with horses and cows in them. There is a lady that will show visitors how to do a braided rug, and another
